Unusual Visitor

Recently a very unusual visitor was brought into the clinic. A native long-necked turtle was found wandering in someones backyard. He was kept at the clinic for a couple of days but we found that he was not eating and very quiet.

We rang Healesville sanctuary for advice and they were very helpful. They helped us to identify the turtle as a native and advised that it probably wandered away from a natural waterway. Using Google earth there was nothing close by so we were advised to release the turtle into the nearest natural waterway.

He was released into the pond at the linear park in Murrumbeena. He looked very happy to be back in a natural environment.
