VET NURSES

Our three nurses, Megan, Lisa and Amanda have had further education in veterinary nursing to support the vets.

Megan Ann Norman

Megan has been part of the Oakleigh Central team since 2009, having worked in the industry for a further seven years before. She especially loves caring for the ICU patients and hand rearing baby animals. She also has a special interest in grooming, dentistry, surgery and the challenge of large animal work.

Megan loves spending time with Buster the kelpie who adores a good game of fetch followed by a lively swim. On the down side he also shows a bit too much affection for her darling duck! They are joined by Peter the tabby who spends his days lazing in the sun and whose favourite party trick is to sit on people's shoulders.

In her spare time Megan enjoys playing hockey, kickboxing and Marshall Arts - so watch out!  Megan has a love of traveling, having already visited London and Scotland. One day soon Megan hopes to go white water rafting in New Zealand.

Amanda Wall

Amanda joined the team in early 2007 with a previous 6 years of experience in the industry including working in the Australian animals divisi on at Taronga Zoo. She is currently completing her Certificate 4 in Vet Nursing via correspondence. Amanda obviously has a soft spot for animals in trouble having has previously worked at The Cat Protection Society and been a volunteer with WIRES (wildlife Rescue) NSW.

When she is not at work Amanda enjoys helping out at the South Oakleigh Wildlife Shelter and caring for her own growing brood of pets; Hercules the bearded dragon who thinks yellow food tastes the best, Felix & Ollie the Murray River turtles who spend their days basking in the sun, Baby & Steve the Rainbow Lorikeets who are protective of their stuff and finally Yaris the ginger tabby who lives in a world of her own.

When not caring for all the animals in her life Amanda gets her skates on for the Victorian Roller Derby League, and puts her feet up to watch 'Six Feet Under', 'Flight of the Concords' and 'Scrubs' and munches on her favourite vegetarian delights.
